The first Spiritual Guidelines guides man to pray to the CREATOR. The Prayer to pray to the CREATOR refers to the CREATOR as the creator of heaven and hell, the universe, the elements and all and more than that. There is only one GOD and other references to this GOD are YAHWEH, GOD the Father, ALLAH and TIAN (or Shang Ti). In BAITIANGONG, we also call to the CREATOR as TIAN GONG as Tian is one of the oldest Chinese terms for heaven and a key concept in the ancient Chinese religion. The CREATOR does not have a specific name, but in the BAITIANGONG movement, we use TIAN GONG to differentiate GOD from the various deities from Taoism that are also synonymous with the term god; while in English, we use the general term – the CREATOR or GOD interchangeably – as we do not want to differentiate from the existing mainstream monotheism. However, Xian Sheng told us to use capital letters for the CREATOR and GOD, while underlining TIAN GONG in Chinese. This is to highlight the importance of the CREATOR or GOD to the readers.
The anthropomorphic god
There is only one GOD and GOD is the creator of everything and all and more than that. More than five thousand years ago, the ancient religion of China is monotheistic; the ancient Chinese people worship Tian.((“The Religion of China” by James Legge. Originally published 1880. However, Confucius would portray Tian as sometimes possessing clear anthropomorphic features and sometimes appearing more of a natural force.((The Analects of Confucius. http://www.indiana.edu/~p374/Analects_of_Confucius_(Eno-2015).pdf)) Throughout history, man had always anthropomorphised GOD according to their how they think GOD should be. They would assign human attributes and human values to GOD so that they could understand and accept GOD in their way.
Ancient religions began from the system of sacrificial rituals to appease their angry gods. The ancient people viewed gods as being in control of all natural events such as rainfall, harvests, fertility and etc.((Origin Of Religion. http://www.allaboutreligion.org/origin-of-religion.html)) When faced with natural catastrophes like drought, floods, bad harvest or even low fertility among the womenfolk, they naturally thought that the gods were angry with them and punishing them for something wrong they had done. They would perform sacrifices to appease the angry gods so that these gods would stop punishing them. Over time, these rituals became more elaborate and eventually formed the polytheistic religions in the various civilisations like the Assyrians, Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. The gods in these polytheistic religions took on the names, looks, languages and even behavioural traits unique to the culture of those civilisations that formed them. Fortunately, science prevails over ignorance and natural science provided logical, consistent and supported by evidence that these catastrophes were just natural phenomena and not the punishment from angry gods. These gods were no longer relevant to the lives of the modern civilisation and these polytheistic religions faded away. The era of what was thought to be angry and vengeful gods was over.
The anthropomorphism of GOD did not end, but has taken a twist with the emergence of a personal god. A personal god that walked the Earth, befriended people and made promises to them if they fulfilled his divine will and obeyed his laws. The new god was assigned with attributes like loving, forgiving, merciful, holy, justice, goodness, truth and etc. because god must be seen to be good. However, if man is created by a good god, man cannot possibly possess sinful traits like lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy or pride; hence the devil is believed to be the culprit and assigned with the opposing evil attributes. This god is then pitted against the devil as portrayed in western films where the devil is a fallen angel, created by god, but corrupted by power.((Wikipedia. Our world is plagued with all sorts of problems and this god has apparently abandoned his people to the devil’s machinations.
The problem with the anthropomorphism of GOD is that people expect GOD to behave like them. They expect GOD would take responsibility for HIS creation and help people like in the historical accounts. However, we can clearly see that GOD is missing from man’s life in this modern world as the world is full of wickedness and bad things keep happening to good and religious people.((BBC Religion. Science claims to be able to provide answers to how the universe emerged with the Big Bang Theory and how human evolved from apes with the Theory of Evolution. GOD is no longer required to explain how the universe and human came to be. To many people, GOD can now be relegated to annals of religious history. So how do BAITIANGONG followers explain that there is a GOD and why people should pray to the CREATOR?
Why should people pray to the CREATOR?
The main question on people’s mind is does GOD even exist? And if GOD does exist, why doesn’t GOD make HIS presence known and felt? Michael J. Denton is a biochemist that argues that the universe was configured to give rise to an intelligent species of life forms, namely human beings in his book “Nature’s Destiny”. He presented many scientific facts to support his arguments, but because we are so accustomed to nature around us, we have naturally taken them for granted and did not see the scientific details in them that made it possible for humans to survive and strive on Earth and in this universe. These facts presented showed that GOD have a hand in all GOD’s creation. The laws of nature and laws of physics that govern all of creation are working to ensure the continued survival of humans. Michael Denton also wrote a book entitled “Evolution: Still a Theory in Crisis” that challenges the Darwinian view that man evolved from apes or that evolution even happened. The atheists have always depended on science to disapprove the existence of GOD. However, there are many phenomena that science is unable to explain such as paranormal phenomena like telekinesis, telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, ghost, psychic abilities, the Bermuda Triangle and etc. There is also documented evidence about reincarnation from research conducted by Dr Ian Stevenson and Dr Brian Weiss, the author of the book “Many Lives, Many Masters”. There are thousands of Near-Death-Experience (NDE) on the website www.nderf.org founded by a scientist Jeffrey Long. Science is a method that relies on empirical observations and experimental data that can be performed on anything in the physical and natural world. Paranormal phenomena, reincarnation research and NDE is not scientific because they are not scientifically measurable, but is just as real as anything physical in this world to those who experienced them. If science cannot prove that GOD exist, does this mean that we blindly accept the findings of science that GOD does not exists, when the same scientific methods cannot even prove paranormal phenomena that is obviously real in our world?
The majority of people who do not believe in GOD probably do not rely on science to tell them that GOD does not exist, but because they do not have a need for GOD as described by the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. According to the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid, their first four tiers starting from the lowest: physiological needs, safety needs, belonging and love needs, and esteem needs, are important to any person’s life and needed to be fulfilled before they even bother with the fifth tier that is Self-actualisation. The need for GOD to be a part of their lives seems irrelevant. And even if they do believe in the existence of one GOD and not many gods, Judaism and Islam are religions that will changes a person’s lifestyle drastically, if one were to be fully committed to it. Christianity would be a less drastic change in lifestyle, but a person would have to take a great leap of faith by accepting Jesus Christ as GOD and as explained above, can they reconcile with the idea that a loving and forgiving GOD is missing?
The Five Realisations
The Five Realisations provides the best explanation to why people should pray to the CREATOR. The realisation is a step-by-step process and each realisation requires the understanding of the earlier ones before proceeding on. The first and most basic realisation is the realisation of consciousness. It tells us that man possesses both the good consciousness and evil consciousness in them. For example, if a person fears that he will be penalised or loses certain benefits for telling the truth, he could go against his or her good consciousness and lies. In a scenario where that lie comes from a prominent person in society, that lie would affect many other people and in turn forcing them to go against their good consciousness to perpetuate the lie, out of the fear of losing out or being penalised. The situation would continue to escalate until it comes to a point that the lie becomes indistinguishable from the truth and the conflicts and consequences from the original lie would have become part of the norm of the society where the lie arose.
People are consciously aware when they tell lies, steal, cheats, corrupts or commit any acts against their good consciousness. When a person is lying, he or she will exhibit a number of tell-tale signs like behavioural inconsistency, hiding the mouth or eyes, throat clearing or swallowing and etc. A polygraph or popularly referred to as a lie detector can measure and records several physiological changes such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and skin conductivity when a person is lying.((Wikipedia. However, the realisation of good consciousness and evil consciousness is not the only contributing factor.
People go against their good consciousness as they are easily tempted by earthly longings for power, position, stature, fame and luxurious living; and materialistic cravings like wealth, properties, big houses, luxury cars, etc. As long as a person is a slave to their earthly longings and materialistic cravings, they will constantly be forced to go against their good consciousness to maintain and feed their obsession. This is the second realisation known as Self Realisation. A person with self-realisation should be asking a number of important questions like the 5Ws and 1H to understand why they are alive here and now, and what is their purpose in life. Are they alive because of the random probability as explained by the Theory of Evolution and therefore they must survive as best they can or is there a bigger picture to living? Is survival a justification to lie, cheat and steal from others as there is only the here and now, and after they die, there is nothing?
The third is the realisation of the existence of the soul. We can observe in nature that all actions have consequences. The cutting down of forest or the increase in greenhouse gases will impact the environment in many drastic ways. When it comes to people, the actions of a person can have positive or negative consequences to others around him. That is why human created laws to regulate the society to ensure peace so that if a person commits a crime, he or she will be imprisoned to protect the rest of society. What can the law do to a person who lies to incite others to violence? What can the law do to a person who abuses his position in society to gain power and wealth? We are well aware that the justice system judges based on facts and some lawyers are smart to manipulate the law in favour of their clients and justice will never be served on Earth. The Laws of Nature should actually be a clue to us that that is not the case. Take the physical laws for example, the Newton’s Third Law – for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction – is the law of physics that applies to all objects without which, nothing in the universe will be able to move including us. Similarly, nature has a physical and supernatural side too as explained above in paranormal phenomena. If we Google the human soul, we can see many articles talking about the soul in cases like Near Death Experience (NDE), reincarnation and etc. Hinduism is one of the oldest religion in the world and Hindus believe that the process of reincarnation is a continuous cycle in which the soul is reborn over and over again according to the law of action and reaction.((BBC Religions. When we realised that the soul is real, we need to ask what happens to the soul after death. Do the actions of a person like lying, cheating, stealing and etc. goes unpunished? Deep down inside, many people are conscious that there will be consequences to their wrong actions; unfortunately the fear of losing out in life can overwhelm a person’s good consciousness. Heaven and hell may be constructs of religions, but many people who experienced NDE says that heaven is an indescribable place filled with joy, happiness and peace; while hell is gruesome beyond words with demons torturing the doomed souls without any mercy. The demons described are not servants of the devil and hell is not rule by the devil. The demons are actually hell guardians and their jobs are to mete out punishment based on the sins of those souls. Many people who have experience hell in their NDE have changed their ways as they have seen the consequences of sinful actions. Many people are not as fortunate as them and will continue to live where materialism is the priority in their pyramid of wants. The next realisation is who created heaven and hell?
The final realisation is the existence of GOD. This is the natural conclusion if we study each realisation with our analytical mind and logical thinking. If you recall that man portrayed GOD as an anthropomorphic god with only positive qualities like loving, forgiving, merciful, holy, justice, goodness, truth and etc., this portrayal of GOD had caused a lot of people to be disappointed with GOD as GOD does not seem to bother with what is going on Earth. The realisation of consciousness will tell you that GOD gave man free will and with free will, man is subjected to good consciousness and evil consciousness. The devil is a creation of GOD to tempt man to follow his evil consciousness. As man followed their evil consciousness, they made the world a living hell for others to live in. The question is not whether GOD is unwilling to prevent evil or GOD doesn’t know about evil in this world or GOD can’t prevent evil, it’s whether we want to do something about it. Edmund Burke clearly expressed this in his quotation, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men to do nothing.” GOD gave us the means to stop evil, but we must act ourselves and not blame GOD instead. To remedy this erroneous statement, Xian Sheng explained that GOD is not only loving and forgiving, but also fury and hate and more than that. All the words, in all the dictionaries, in all the worlds, couldn’t describe GOD.
We cannot comprehend or understand GOD and ascribe qualities to GOD as we think GOD should be. However, from the creation of heaven, we know that GOD’s love for those who pray to HIM is limitless. From the creation of hell and the endless sufferings of the sinful souls, we know that GOD’s hate is beyond all comprehension. The Divine Law of Nature will take its course only after a person’s death, as man are capable of changing themselves as long as they are still alive. But upon death, all their good actions and evil actions will be automatically tallied, and the consequences will be fair and justice will be served.
Why pray to the CREATOR?
Xian Sheng constantly reminds us that the CREATOR did not ask us to pray to the CREATOR, but Xian Sheng asks us to pray to the CREATOR. The CREATOR created everything by thought and therefore does not need anything from us. The CREATOR does not need us to pray to HIM; offer any sacrifices, which are part of HIS creation in the first place; demands our respect, loyalty and love; adherence to the rules and regulation or guidelines set forth by HIS Disciples and Messengers for man; and for us to believe that HE exist or not.
The CREATOR created heaven and hell and gave man free will. Whatever we do with our life, whether we believe in the CREATOR or not; pray to the CREATOR or pray to idols, saints, man, or to be an atheist; respect HIM or curse HIM; love HIM or hate HIM; follow our good consciousness or follow our evil consciousness; it is our own personal choice. However, our soul bears the consequences of all our actions during our lifetime. Even if a person does more good than bad in life and his or her soul accumulated more positive points than negative points, this does not mean that this person can go to heaven, if he or she does not recognise the owner of heaven. However, this person may go to Limbo, a plane where this person is given another chance to realise the existence of the CREATOR and pray to the CREATOR. If he or she still fails to do so, then this person will be reincarnated again without the need to suffer in hell. This could be your Limbo and all you have to do is to use your analytical mind and logical thinking to realise the existence of the CREATOR and pray to the CREATOR, and you can go to heaven.

BAITIANGONG – You have what they call the main point. Then the others follows when you say BAITIANGONG, the rest will follow.
BAITIANGONG – Pray twice daily. Upon waking up and before sleeping.

BAITIANGONG – You Think Good, See Good, Hear Good, Speak Good and Do Good. Do good means do not go seeking prostitutes. How do you Do Good? You do charitable work by fasting. You actually do it. If you do not fast, you cannot even do charitable work? You can branch off the explanation from there.
Think Good – You have to think about sacrifice, honour, respect, patience, perseverance and trust.
Think Good – You think about the positive part.
Think Good – You have to think about studying to gain knowledge and understanding. The other guidelines are already contain within.
Similarly, you See Good, Hear Good, Speak Good and Do Good.

Praying to GOD with your mind, body and soul. When you pray to GOD with your mind, it is as though you are praying without your body. If you concentrate when praying to GOD, even if there are window grills in front of you, the grills would seem to disappear.
Xian Sheng has asked us to experiment this.
This happens because your mind is a separate entity from your body. When you concentrate, your mind is no longer inside your body, but praying to GOD directly. Your body is also praying to GOD directly as you are kneeling down with hands clasped. Your soul is interlocked with your body and your soul is also in a kneeling position praying to GOD. However, if you pray hard and long enough, you would even feel that you are praying to GOD not from your physical body, but out of your body, as though you are outside the window grills. This is your mind is praying to GOD as your mind is separate from your body.
That is why when you pray to GOD, you pray with your mind, body and soul.

The CREATOR created human and gave human freedom. Therefore, the consciousness that dwells within a human being is free consciousness.
There is internal and external consciousness, with some external consciousness given by a third party to influence us to choose between good or bad.
We must be able to analyse between good and evil consciousness.
4. Predetermined consciousness and free consciousness((Tape number: 06B-2000. 16/1/2000 Predetermined consciousness and free consciousness))
What is predetermined consciousness?
Earth revolving on its axis in 24 hours and orbits around the sun in 365 days is predetermined consciousness. The CREATOR created Earth so that human can live on it. Therefore, Earth is not accorded with free consciousness.
What is free consciousness?
The consciousness that dwells within human is free consciousness. The CREATOR gave human a mind, and with consciousness, we became aware that we are humans. With free consciousness, we have the freedom of movement and are able to choose whether to live or to die, to pray to The CREATOR or not and to worship whatever things we like.
5. Did Consciousness existed before GOD’s creation?((Tape number: 06B-2000 16/1/2000. Consciousness existed before GOD’s creation))
The CREATOR created Nothing, and since everything comes from Nothing, this would mean that consciousness had already been present. Human is given a mind and then with consciousness, enables human to analyse. The consciousness in human gives human freedom.
6. What is GOD’s creation?((Tape number: 74A-1999 26/12/1999. GOD’s creation))
Creation is GOD’s consciousness, everything is created by thought.
The CREATOR did not use HIS hands to create.
The CREATOR created Nothing, gases, life force energy, external life force energy, consciousness and matter simultaneously, but explained in the above sequence for our easy comprehension.
Although creation is explained in the following sequence: Nothing, gases, life force energy, external life force energy, consciousness and matter; consciousness has always been in existence, prior to creation.
Nothing is created from consciousness. From within Nothing, everything appears by thought, as everything that exists is already present in Nothing.
As The CREATOR created Nothing, The CREATOR would not be inside HIS creation. The CREATOR is beyond Nothing.
If The CREATOR recalls the universes, including man and extra-terrestrial beings, all that remained would be Nothing.
The CREATOR creates from consciousness and also recalls from consciousness. Just a thought and everything within Nothing would disperse and disappear.
The CREATOR thought of gases and all the gases appeared within Nothing. The gases are alive, have consciousness, but with a low intelligence and remain motionless.
With life force energy, the gases start to move and collide with each other, resulting in chaotic explosions.
With external life force energy, the explosions ceased with the gases combining to form the various matters in the universe. The suns, planets, moons and stars were formed, but without purpose, remained motionless.
The CREATOR gave consciousness to all matter by thought and with consciousness, the suns gave out light and heat, moons rotate around planets, planets rotate on its axis and around its sun and all the stars, nebulas, galaxies, etc. all rotate with its specific purpose. The more they rotate, the farther they move away from each other.
The explosions are still an on-going process as it is driven by GOD’s consciousness.
7. What is heaven?((Tape number: 20B-1996 & 20C-1996. 24/2/1996 Heaven))
We are used to thinking that there is only one heaven for those who passed their examination in life in our world.
Xian Sheng explains that there are many levels of heaven. In fact, there are limitless levels of heavens.
The lowest level of heaven, which is also a common level, is like our world. However, unlike our world where we need money to buy the things we want or need, whatever we want or need in heaven will be there for us.
Happiness is basic feeling in all the levels of heaven. The higher the level, the happier a saint gets. The happiness in heaven is so great that we can feel the happiness in our hair, face, hands, body, legs and until our toes.
Happiness in heaven comes from many sources. Happiness are different, some are happy with eating, some are happy with dancing, some are happy with visual sight and so forth.
Higher than the lower level heavens which is similar Earth, are heavens where you can breathe underwater, heavens where you can eat without the need to go to the toilet, heavens like cartoon worlds and so forth.
After a person who passed their examination in life and goes to their assigned heaven, they can proceed to go up to higher levels of heaven if they continue to pray to the CREATOR and meditate voluntarily.
At present, after we recite our prayer, we will ask the CREATOR the following; to bless all the saints in heaven with a higher level, to forgive the sins of our ancestors in hell and to give them a place in heaven if deserving, and to bless our immediate family members.
After we are in heaven, we should continue to pray to the CREATOR. However, Xian Sheng taught us to pray as follows; pray to the CREATOR to bless mankind and to bless other saints with a higher level. In this way, all the saints will have a chance to attain a higher level of heaven.
There are limitless levels of heaven because everyone’s good deeds are different. In BAITIANGONG Universal Spiritual Movement alone, there are those who perform fasting, varying from once a year to the full 27 days, while some do not even fast. Some follower joins in the Sunday meditation consistently while some do not even come. Some attend obsequies to pray for the soul of the deceased while some do not. Some join our various celebrations and activities while some never ever join in anything.
As for those outside of the Spiritual Movement, the variation in good deeds everyone does and do not are practically limitless, like the levels of heaven that they will go to upon their bodily death.
8. What is devil’s temptation((Tape number: 47B 1998 9/10/1998. Devil’s temptation))
The devil has a large arsenal of tools like power, money, sex and etc.
The devil can only influence a person if they allowed themselves to be tempted by the devil.
A person must pray to the CREATOR with their mind, body and soul.
Do not pray to the CREATOR because of money.
They must acquire and use knowledge and understanding so that they are not easily dissuaded by the devil from praying to the CREATOR.
